Jerry, a Professor of Biology, was asked to oversee WVU's presence at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree, which focuses on high adventure sports. As a former scout, a scientist, and an outdoor enthusiast, this assignment was a great match to his varied interests. Sports are a great tool for teaching principles of science, engineering and technology; it's all about connecting with today's youth using the motto -- "farther, faster, higher, healthy." In his free time, Jerry hikes, cycles, and camps.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration from West Virginia University, Andrew joined the Science Behind the Sport team working as a graduate assistant. His passion towards outdoor activities along with his ability to apply the underlying S.T.E.M. principles that are involved have allowed him to become a valuable team member. Andrew now works as a fulltime Instructional Coordinator for the Science Behind the Sport program. In his free time, Andrew loves cycling (both mountain and road), snowboarding, and spending time with family and friends on his grandmother’s boat. Andrew is currently working towards a Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University.
